Browser-first storage. By default, all quiz answers and report data are stored only in your browser's localStorage. Your data stays on your device and is not sent to our servers unless you choose to share your report.

Sharing requires server storage. If you choose to share your report with others, we save your report data to our servers (Firebase) so that the shareable link works. This is optional—you can use ShadowLens completely without sharing.

100% anonymous usage. You can use ShadowLens completely anonymously—no account creation, login, or personal information required.

No AI processing of your data. Your quiz responses are processed by a deterministic algorithm running in your browser. No AI is used to analyze your answers, and your data is never used to train AI models.

Analytics only. We use anonymous analytics (Google Analytics) to understand site usage patterns, but this does not include any personal data, quiz answers, or identifiable information.

What We Know

Since all quiz data stays in your browser, we don't collect or store your quiz answers or reports. The only information we may have access to is:

Anonymous Analytics: Aggregated, anonymous usage statistics through Google Analytics (page views, general navigation patterns). This does not include personal data or quiz responses.
Donation Information: If you choose to donate, payment processing is handled securely by Stripe. We do not store your full payment card details on our servers.
Technical Information: Browser type, device information, IP address (anonymized), and cookies for analytics only (with your consent).

Since we don't store your data on our servers, there's no need to contact us to delete it—just clear your browser's localStorage.

Children's Privacy

ShadowLens is not intended for users under the age of 13 (in the United States) or 16 (in the European Union). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under these age limits.

If we discover that we have collected data from a child under the applicable age limit, we will delete that information immediately upon discovery.

Users between 13-17 (or 16-17 in the EU) may use ShadowLens with parental or guardian consent. Parents or guardians can contact us to review, modify, or delete their child's information.

ShadowLens does not sell any data. Since your quiz answers and reports stay in your browser, we don't have access to them to sell. We don't engage in data brokering or share information for marketing purposes.
